The Raging Erie: Life and Labor Along the Erie Canal by Mark Ferrara

Reviewed by Dr. Gary Emerson. Gary is a retired history teacher from Newfield Central School. He received a BA in History from St. Bonaventure University, an MA in History from Binghamton University, and completed his PhD in American History from Binghamton University. The Raging Erie examines how the Erie Canal (200th anniversary) impacted people who worked on it. We often think about all the positive change the Canal created, but for the people who worked on the Canal, it was not beneficial.
